In the present scenario, Indian diaspora occupies a prominent role in Global culture. Partition of the country has forced people to migrate to another land to seek shelter. This aspect of Indian diaspora can be seen in Kiran Desai’s novel The Inheritance of Loss. She has discussed the problems of migration in her novel and has explored the ideas of nationhood in detail. It can be observed that The Inheritance of Loss represents the writer’s confrontation with nationalism and national identity. The novel has been written with the background of separation and rootlessness. This paper tries to highlight the experiences of the characters in their travel to distant lands and various issues regarding their national identity.
