Confessional Writing, the new trend of writing in the modern period has attracted a lot of attention from the common man towards literary writings. While confessional writings grab the attention of the readers, they give a healing effect to the writers. Confessional writing also stands different due to its psycho-therapy effect on others. In Indian English Literature, Kamala Das gained lot of popularity from her daring exposition of the physical emotions and feelings hidden in the inner corners of her mind. Her autobiography “My Story” and many poems with autobiographical elements have got wide appreciation. In American literature, Sylvia Plath was grouped among the confessional writers because of her attempt to reveal her innermost emotional conflicts. Though both these writers are females, and attempted the similar tasks, the motives and the approaches are different. This particular aspect has made the author take a dive into the psychological& social motives and specialities of both Kamala Das& Sylvia Plath to research and conclude the real motive of these writers for their confessional approach.onfessional Writing, the new trend of writing in the modern period has attracted a lot of attention from the common man towards literary writings.
