The paper discusses the most troubled aspects of the relationship between caste and gender in post colonial India .The play Kayadaan amounts the depiction of an inter-caste marriage . It shows the feministic realities of character like Jyoti Devalikar who is a Brahmin woman. A Dalit character is Arun Athavale who married Jyoti . He is abusive towards Jyoti even during her pregnancy but she stays committed to him. Ultimately ,she turns back to her own family. In response to him, various upper caste characters articulate the idea that a culture shaped by dalit is not easily changed. But,particularly dalit activists themselves demanded equality and justice in order to differences in society . Tendulkar echoes the voice of Dalit self -assertion in this play . The realities as confessed in the play are directly the expression of the truth of the life of the characters. The play embodies the domestic and sexual violence . The character Jyoti faces several abusiveness in her life. This reality comes out in the play .It seeks many critics attention. This play indexs the various stances on caste politics itself. There is polarization of female agency against dalit masculinity .
