Acquisition of grammatical structures by the students in English language classroom is still considered as a herculean task by the teachers. Proper and effective implementation of teaching strategies may enhance the acquisition of grammatical concepts in English language in an easier way. The study highlights the importance and advantages of self-regulated learning among secondary school students in acquiring grammatical concepts. The investigator conducted a survey from 100 secondary school students and 40secondary school English teachers selected from three districts of the state of Kerala. Result of the study, through ANOVA, revealed that there is a significant effect of self-regulated learning on acquisition of grammatical structures. Investigator made an attempt to analyze the perception of secondary school English teachers about self- regulated learning using a questionnaire and also highlighted the challenges faced by them while implementing self-regulated learning using the technique of unstructured interview.grammatical concepts.
