This paper makes a modest attempt to analyze a successful film adaptation of Mahesh Dattani’s play, ‘Ek Alag Mausam.’ Literary texts offer instantaneous and unconditional access to characters’ psychological states unlike the characters on screen. The ability to enter the minds of fictional characters is, of course, one of the credits of literary works. But it is hard for movies to compete with literary texts in this regard. Ideally speaking, a cross-genre analysis is bound to have its own precincts and it is bound to be inconclusive. Hence the current focus of the researcher is to study how social media like celluloid is explored in these decades to represent the literary texts on the screen. In today’s market, democratizing media can take any literary or even non literary text whose adaptability is decisive for its success.
