The term culture is employed implicitly or explicitly connected to the idea of nature and identifies broadly with those patterns of human knowledge. It refers to the customary beliefs and social formations, and traits of racial or social groups. The notion of culture also signifies an acquaintance with humanities, fine arts, and other intellectual or scientific pursuits. Expatriate is writing always inter- related between the aspects two cultures and two countries. It constructs a new identity that negotiates boundaries and relates to different temporal and spatial metaphors. Culture travels along with individuals who feel nostalgia or experience of amnesia. The writers abroad live on the margins of two societies. The word “diaspora” is literally a scattering, carrying within it the ambiguous status of being both an ambassador and a refugee. The requirements of two roles are different, one requires the projection of one’s culture and other seeks refuge and protection within the host culture. The words like immigrant, exile, and refugee are important to govern the act of migration. The word “immigrant” defines a location, a physical movement and a forward- looking attitude. The word “exile” indicates or evokes multiple meanings which cover a variety of relationships with the mother country. They are alienation, forced exile, self- imposed exile, political exile and so on. Opportunity for work, research and freedom are the main motivations for migration. This paper focuses on the cultural issues in THE INHERITANCE OF LOSStwo societies.
